TPP 88: How Burned-Out Doctors Can Thrive in a Broken Medical System (Determined Book Release)

Today is the day!  The book I have been working on for the last twelve months is finally published.  The book is titled Determined: How Burned-Out Doctors Can Thrive in a Broken Medical System.

Larry Keller

For this reason, I thought it would be helpful to provide you with a brief excerpt, overview, and the outline of the book!  Enjoy!  (And don’t forget to snag your copy of Determined right here on Amazon!)

Here is an excerpt from the book:

How Burned-Out Doctors Can Thrive in a Broken Medical System: An Excerpt

Medicine is broken.

As doctors, we often feel trapped in medicine by moral injury, or we feel that the reality of working in medicine hasn’t lived up to the dream we hoped it would. We feel unappreciated, unheard, or overworked. We feel we have no control over the administrators and insurance companies that seem to rule our world. Yet, when we get home late for the umpteenth time, when the charting seems endless and we are overwhelmed by massive amounts of debt or non-competes in our contracts, when conflict-of-interest policies seem unfair…

We. Still. Have. A. Choice.

While we should be angry about our broken medical system, we don’t have to let it make us feel bitter, broken, and burned out.

And odds are that if you are reading this book, then you aren’t going to let it, either. Why? Because you are likely sick and tired of being sick and tired. You are a brave and courageous physician. You are looking for a different way to view the problems in your life, including the burnout that is wreaking havoc in your soul.

If you are a physician who wants to learn how to become the hero of your story, learn how to bite your thumb at the medical system that mistreats medical professionals, or defeat burnout and create a life you love, then you have found the book for you. While I don’t promise you it will be easy, I do promise it will be worth it.
